  1. Hello,
I purchased a ValueDisk-USB2.0/1394/SATA external hard drive enclosure. I put a Maxtor 250GB HD in it formatted NTFS.

I tried several times to transfer files to the drive, a couple files did transfer but then the drive is not recognized. It happens with USB2.0 and the 1394 connections, I don't have a SATA port to test it. I mainly use the Firewire port.

I thought I had a good deal, but all I have is a headache. I contacted the online store I purchased the drive Memory Labs - http://store.yahoo.com/tonyh/vaextrcoexha.html .

Does anyone know what could be the problem or know where I can find the hd external enclosure at a good price, for my maxtor hd...?

    Thanks

is the maxtor a SATA HD? you would probably have to get a enclosure that has the oxford chipset 911 to make sure the hd will work. not all enclosures have the oxford chipset 911.

take a look at that link for a hd external case.

I don't see anything at all in the description about 48-bit LBA or being able to handle drives over 128GB. I believe this may be your problem.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.
