Or how about an NTSC file and FILM file on the same disc?
Will these cause playback problems on my standalone?
If it does work, will it cause problems when I will eventually take these files and author them on a DVD somewhere down the road?

There is nothing preventing you from doing this you just need to author them as different tracks on the CVD. Same thing with when you later transfer it to DVD except that you need to at least keep them in different cells.
But just to make sure, FILM itself is not supported in the NTSC standard. I assume you mean NTSCfilm which is 23.976fps but with pulldown flags applied. Without the pulldown flags it won't comply with either the SVCD or the DVD standards. -

There wouldn't be any point though. If it plays correctly it will just be because the player does the telecine even without the pulldown flags and maybe corrects for drop frame maybe not. But assuming it works, its no different then the compliant version, so might as well stick with what is guaranteed to work.
