  1. Here's the problem, I want to put some XviD files on DVD. However I want to edit them a little first. I can open them just fine in Vegas 5, but the audio is out of synch. It plays fine in a player, it's just when I import it into Vegas. I've had the same problem with ASF files. The audio is actually a little longer than the video when imported. I'm pretty sure it's not a Vegas problem, because I've tried video converts and had them come out the same way as Vegas imports them.

Does anyone know how I can get the audio and video synched? If it requires recoding that's okay, I just need to be able to recode them to the codec I want (so they're not re-lossy-compressed).

    Thanks

try convert the audio to pcm/wav. open the video in virtualdub (ignore the error msg about vbr audio), select under audio->full processing and under video->direct stream copy. save as a new avi(only the audio will be reconverted, the video will be copied). try edit in vegas.

  3. Baldrick you're awesome! It worked perfectly, that's exactly what I needed!

Now if you could only tell me how to do the same with ASF files (virtual dub won't open them).

    But regardless, thanks a ton!

I found a way to open asf files in virtualdub, load the asf in tmpgenc and save as a project file, then d/l and install VFAPI and open VFAPI reader and add the project file and click on convert, now you can open the frameserved avi it produces with virtualdub.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

  5. Yeah, I tried that johns0. Doesn't seem to do what I want. I also got an older version of VirtualDub that supports ASF files, only it always gives an error when I try to open the ASF files I have. Any other ideas? With these ones, I don't need to edit them like the XviD files, I just want to convert them to DVD, but the audio always gets out of synch with every program I have tried.
