  1. hi, i got crazy problems with my computer, can you help!

... i have been authoring using tempgenc, burning dvds with nero 6, i also have adobe encore installed just in case.

and now for some reason (after a good couple of months) none of my burning software will not burn DVDs, ive wasted countless disks.

but the strange thing is i can still burn cds.

my thoughts are that im forced to buy a new dvd burner, thinking thats the problem,

does anyone have any experience in these matters, and can advise me in anyway.

    thankyou.

As DVD burning and CD burning use lasers with a different wavelength, it may be that your DVD laser has gone down. It may just need cleaning, otherwise, it's new burner time.

    I agree with Richard.

One thing to try before going out and buying a new one, is to flash it with the latest firmware. I had a problem with my reader not reading all discs. I was ready to just buy a new one, but decided to try flashing it first. Bingo, it has not failed me once since. Just a thought............

  5. You did not say what writer you have, nor what media you use or what computer you have.

    Try,.
Uninstall in control panel & restart your computer.

Look up the drive on the manufactuers site, you'll find the update. Check the instructions on the site before doing anything.

Quick note, I had a similar problem with my DVD burner. It came with a new computer and the burning software it came with didn't support the drive. It needed the latest version. It was simply a matter of getting the correct software. This probably won't help you since you were already able to burn DVD's with it but I thought I might mention it.
