hi, my pal has a stand alone dvd recorder and was wondering if it would be possible for me to make a copy of a film that he put onto a dvd using dvd shrink and nero..any info would be appreciated...bigharry.![]()

If the copy is for you, then you must own the original in order to make a copy.

Your question is a little ambiguous. Sorry, I couldn't resist. Is the copy on a DVD from his standalone or do you want to use his standalone to make a copy of a Shrink DVD?
Either way, if the file is decrypted and not copyrighted you could copy it with Shrink or simpler just Nero. I would put in on your hard drive first and not do a on-the-fly copy. If, on the other hand, it is a Shrink file that you want to record with his standalone, yes, you can do that also. (As long as your player will accept his standalone's files.)

You can play a DVD on a DVD player and record it on a stand alone recorder, but only if it is your own DVD and not a copy protected commercial DVD. Otherwise you would need a device to remove the macrovision copy protection.Originally Posted by bigharry
