Halo sucks. Just another DOOM clone, though more advanced. DOOM was never that hot a game either. Very simpleton-like stories.

Too many games have been ruined by this 3D style. Even Mario is not immune. Poor Ninja Gaiden too.

After a while, it's like playing the same game. Different background story, different characters, but same-old same-old after that.

No. Your detector is not broken. If somebody wanted to punish me, making me play a game like HALO would be one good method. The HALO story does look interesting, but I'd rather see it as a book, comic, cartoon, tv series, movie ... anything but a crappy typical 3D game. I am aware there are books, but I'm not able to read them, not yet at least. Even then, it looks like a typical storyline (from what little I've seen). Not enough make it a priority.

Yeah there are books like you mentioned and I highly suggest them. When your done with them I also highly suggest you check out the audio story that evolved from the ARG for the halo2 launch, its really good.

I have to admit that I normally loathe 1st person shooters (I am a 3rd person man myself), but the story line kept me playng I was trying to figure out how master chief was actually going to pull it off in the end
The final sequence with the warthog was great. The story was very involed I could have cared less about 1st person shooter games but I had to complete it once I picked it up. Someone let me borrow it while I was working on enhancing his xbox

Still cant say that I care very much for 1st person shooters but I thought Halo was a decent game. You can drive vehicles and hop into big cannons and blow stuff up and fly around in hovercraft and spaceships too
What is interesting is that MS makes a bid deal about it being the best selling console game of all time for this new generation of systems but they dont tell you that Madden 2004 on the ps2 beat it hands down in less than 4-6 months
Halo came out at the launch for xbox so its been around for a few years

I'll have to rent Halo 2 from first blockbuster before deciding if I will get it but I am sure it will be a great game but not necesarrily live up to its hype but time will tell

Yeah a "sleeper hit" lol. A local blockbuster is giving a few copies away and staying open until midnight to sell it. FOR A VIDEO GAME. A co worker drove over to it since its near his house. There were 300+ poeple waiting for midnight.

I've got Thursday off and I'm thinking of renting STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT and HALO 2 (fat chance but why not try??) and maybe FABLE....

Just about any big game release your likely SOL unless you preordered on release day. Thats not what I mean. 300+ people lined up for a midnight opening of blockbuster to buy it. I've never seen that over a game before.

But I can sympathize. I'm more hooked into the story then the game at this point. If you liked the game and haven't read the book and listened to the ilovebee's audio your really missing out.
