burned some divx movies into dvd+rw (cursor) as data. but my standalone philiips dvd737 doesn't play it. menu with the files appears on TV, but disc doesn't play. after pushing "play" only appears track number and time 0:00:00. and that's all... is there some trouble in disc (cursor....) or smth else?

    Hello,

Well that player doesn't show up in this websites database (https://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers).

Are you sure it plays divx??? If it does did you finalize the disc????

Also, you may want to see if the dvd player's firmware can be upgraded - check phillips website.

The other option would be to convert the divx to mpeg and author like a normal dvd....

Might be some odd flavor of DivX - as you get a menu, the player at least can take a dir on the disc, which means that it can read (parts of) it. What does GSpot say about the non playing DivX?

yes... cursor is cursor. you can't make from **** nothing but ****... and that's truth again. everything's ok after burning divx as data into ACME DVD+RW (lithuania product). everything works perfectly. play, stop, forward, rewind etc.
philips dvd737 - i'm sorry, i want to apologize you

I burned lots of custom made divx (with Plextor M402U) on a DVD+RW media and I do not have a problem viewing the files. Mind you I have a Lite-on LVD-2001 that Philips. But my two cents are that DVD+RW medias are "OK". Now I can only assume that those files that have problems play fine on different media? If that is the case then try other media type.
