What is your purpose with the MPEG ? Do you need to edit it (or leave it untouched but in MPG), or is a VCD or SVCD-compatible MPEG gonna suit you better ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

Womble Mpeg-Vcr is the easiest and fastest. Load vob, save as mpeg - simple enough?

    Here's an easier method.

    1) Rip the DVD as one VOB (no file splitting)
    2) Change the file extension from .VOB to .mpg
    3) That's it.

The funny thing is that editing programs don't seem to care and they treat it exactly as if it is. I tried it recently just to see what would happen and it worked just fine.

Vobrator also does a nice job of this as it splits the vob back into its individual movies rather than keeping a 1GB vob as a 1GB mpeg containing several movies.

Rob (or anyone else out there), I hope you can help me. I've tried for hours and hours, I've read all the guides and even googled it, but for the life of me I can't seem to accomplish step 3

    If in doubt, Google it.
