    My vote for Blue-Ray

Cos with HD-DVD you need a HD TV to take advantage of the format.

Jeesh, HD TVs dont even exist in the UK

    Hello,

Yeah but hd-dvd isn't a fully realized format yet....

How many hddvd players are out there???

They're both brand new formats and until a large enough number of movie studios backs one it will remain in limbo.....

Niether one. The new HD red laser will win because it's backward compatible with the existing DVD format. Any format that obsoletes the existing base will fail or be a fringe "high quality" format with no consumer acceptance.

  8. I thought that both were going to be backwards compatible. The movie industry may back one that isn't so they can resell all of the old films(again).
