  1. Hiya. Yes, I'm new, but I have quite a bit of experience with burning Video CDs and Super Video CDs. I will recently be getting a DVD burner, and I have every episode of Newsradio on my computer. Each episode is about 114 mb, and is about 22 minutes long.

First of all, do I need to change the framerate to 25 fps before I can even start burning to DVD? Second of all, how many episodes would I be able to burn to one DVD, assuming each ep. is approximately 20 minutes? Should I just use a Divx > DVD FAQ in order to burn it? Thank guys (and girls!)

    mindlessness,
You should be able to open in your authoring program of choice and create an NTSC DVD. In their existing format they're 114MB but they won't be once you convert them. They'll be much larger.

Try a test - open just one, author to DVD, then look at the total size in the VIDEO_TS folder. That'll give you an idea

And, for the record, timeshifting and viewing TV shows is allowed, but permanent copies violates the copyright, and is considered warez ...a no-no here. Since you don't specify that you downloaded them, which you probably did, I won't give you a formal warning. Technically you could have bought them and ripped as VCD or SVCD to save space, for a backup. But I doubt that you did.

Consider this an informal warning. This is your first post and all.

My advice - before you post again, read the forum rules (link at the top of every page, and warez rules appear each and every time you post). The next time will draw a formal warning (yellow card).

  3. Using 1/2 D1 (352x480) resolution and encoding at a 2-pass VBR bitrate of 0min 3200average and 6500max should get you 3 hours per DVD or 7-8 22 minute episodes per disc.
