Hi, I don't know what I did but i've been reading and researching the guides and info on this site for a while and i've used a variety of methods to back my dvd collection up. I have one movie "SHREK" that for some reason when I load it into my standalone player it just stops and doesn't go to the main menu. In my PC DVD ROM or Burner it goes to the menu fine. I've tried this in a few different standalones and I have the same problem. In a couple of the Standalones I can press the menu button and it goes straight to the menu where everything is accessible, but in other players, unfortunately, mine being one of them, it won't go anywhere or even play.

From what i've read and researched I was hoping there's a program like maybe IFOEDIT? Where I could open the VIDEO_TS file and somehow direct it to navigate automatically to the main menu. I think the VIDEO_TS file is where that would be from what i've read. I'm not sure what I did to cause this but I did blank out all the other special features on my backup and then use menuedit to disable the special features button, although I haven't had this problem with other movies i've done the same way.

If anyone can offer any suggestions on how I could get this movie to automatically go to the main menu, i'd appreciate it.

    Thanks in advance

Well, if your backup does not play like your original, you must have done something bad to it. If I were you I'd try to backup again. The backup should play exactly as the original, unless you modify it (blanking stuff for example, which can break playback if you're not careful).
There's no easy way to tell your DVD to go straight to the menu. PgcEdit is the best candidate for that, and a simple idea would be to put a command in the first-play pgc pre-command area to jump to the movie's root menu. Unfortunately, more often than not, this does not work because you're skipping a lot of initializations that are crucial for the DVD to play.
It won't be easy to fix after the fact.
    I'd try re-backuping if I were you.

I had a similar sort of issue that I fixed with Ifoedit (see https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=241282&highlight= ).

You didn't post any specifics on your backup so I'm unclear on the specifics of you situation. In my case, I used DVDShrink 3.2 to backup my DVD and replace extras with an image. The original DVD had 5+ minutes of trailers prior to going to the main menu. When I replaced those with an image it wanted to play the "image" for that length of time before going to the menu. I used Ifoedit to jump directly to the main menu on insert of the DVD. The above post tells how I did it.

A word of advise ... whatever you try burn your backup to DVDRW first and see if it works in your settop player before during to DVDR.

    Good Luck.
