Can any body help me

I have just purchased a HTR6000 DVD Surround sound system which includes a RDR GX3 DVD Recorder however i cannot seem to find a way to create a DVD so that my other DVD'S machines can play

All the DVD Player will play DVD-RW and i am using an DVD-RW in the sony

Also What is the difference in Formating Video and VR as i have to format these DVD in the Sony player as 1 of theses formats.
