  1. i have some personal movies on vhs and since i am new in this i thionk someone could can help me and tell me what do i need for capturing and then burning this movies on dvd or cd-rom.
    I meant both hardware and sofware

    You need to be a little more specific, budget being the major factor. You can spend $50 or $15,000.

    Here's my suggestions for VHS: Canopus ADVC-100 for capturing, Ulead Video Studio 8 is the only software you will need for basic editing and authoring and a DVD Burner. That's about $500.....

    virtualvcr (free)
    virtualdub (free)
    avisynth (free)
    cce or tmpgenc ($60)
    dvdauthor and dvdauthorgui or dvd-lab (free or $100)
    Nero burning ROM (not sure right now)

    That's how I do it. A dedicated capture drive helps....

    Or what the other guys said. It's a question of budget and versitility...
