  1. I just bought this capture device and hooked up my dvd player to it with an S-Video cable...however, the picture is black and white....I'm guessing this has to do with "Macrovision"...is there anyway that I can download a patch to remove that?

    thanks

I would like to copy some videos that I have purchased, but I can't

also, not only that,....i'm having sound trouble now...video comes through fine (on home made VHS tapes)....but sound is non-existent....the product came with audio cables and it also said you can get sound simply through the USB cord (if I read correctly)...all I have hooked up to it is my DVD player....no TV or anything...I have something else for that....

    any suggestions?

  10. ahhh...I've tried everything....I know that just by hooking up your dvd player and the hardware that you can't get sound....so like I said, the hardware came with audio cables....http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00006B76A/qid=1098852858/sr=1-6/ref=sr_...&s=electronics

that's what I bought....and i'm totally confused on how to connect the cables so that I get sound...i've tried many different ways and I know the answer if right under my nose. It says you can get audio two different ways in the book...one through the USB - digitally - but i've selected that option and nothing happend...and i've tried the cables...something's not right.

if anyone thinks they can help, i'd really appreciate it...I'd hate to have to return this product.

That cable you ref is not for PVR 150/250/250/USB/USB2 and should got one.
Normal that 1/8 to 1/8 mini jack is used on reg AVI card becuase they Audio output that need go to Sound card with PVR card do need Audio output it only had Audio input that why need the above cable even thoses reg TV card have Audio input and need that very same 1/8 to RCA cable to.

From the top of card down
    Tuner Input
    S/Video Input
    RCA Composite Input
    1/8 Stereo Audio Input
    3/32 IR input

Now that 1/8 jack gose in back of PVR 250 "1/8 Stereo Audio Input" the RCA jack gose to VCR "RCA Audio Output" the same also apply to DVD Player as well.

Are you sure you do have WAVE mute on the sound card?.

  13. As a PVR250 owner that has had this problem I have your answer. The problem you are facing is not a macrovision issue. The PVR250 software needs to be told how to pull in the Svideo connection. Follow this link.

  14. Precisely which capture device do you have? Your title says WinTV250, which I expected to be a WinTV-PVR-250. However, you keep referring to a USB cable, which implies you have a WinTV-PVR-USB2.

I'm sorry, I should have specified...I have WinTV USB, not PVR...Honestly, I didn't know they had other models with similar names....sorry

the cable I mentioned is what came in the package....it came with a USB cord, and a "one meeter audio cable"...as said on the instructions under "Package info". It's like headphone cords.... with two ends that are the same....my card as a spot for "S-Video" and a spot for "Audio In" and "Audio" our....that's it. It's the external card.....

I hope I made it more clear...sorry for the confussion, and again, I appreciate all help that is given....(I'm just not used to worrying about getting sound through something other than the USB cord, but I would like to learn.)
