    Hey guys
Ive got some video footage that I would like to do in slow motion, like in the matrix. If you know how, please give me some directions how to do it.

    Hi Jorge,

I don't know Vegas 4.0 co z I use Adobe Premiere 6.0. That said, I'd guess the principle is the same...

Let's say your clip is 15 seconds long and you want it to play at half the speed. With the clip on the timeline, change the attributes of the clip to last twice as long (half speed = 2 x duration - it's an inverse relation).

Note that with commercial movies, they shoot in much more than 25fps (PAL framerate), meaning that there are many more frames to fill the time and so the picture still looks fluid. If you go too slow, it may start to look jerky...

    I hope that helps some...

    Good. No problem.

How to actually do the rolling text is likely to be different from tool to tool, so you'll need to go to the help files / buy a "How To... Vegas 4" book / check out any Vegas 4 forums.

Again, this is from a Premiere perspective but the principles should be the same:

    1. You'll need to create the rolling titles. Have a background that is a "standard" green or blue - choice depends on tool / colours in video (possibly other factors)

    2. Place the rolling titles in another track and in synch with the footage you want them over.

    3. You can then tell the tool to "ignore" the colour you've chosen as the background so that it appears transparent - thus leaving the rolling titles (text only) over the footage.

This technique is called (by some) as "applying a matte" (I think). This guide at www.wrigleyvideo.com is for Premiere 6, but the guy's good at explaining things and you might be able to get more insight into how to do it in Vegas 4. I've not used this guide, so I'm only guessing.

There are other tutorials from this page at the same site.

    Hope that helps some...

Yeah, I just wanted to put the text scrolling by as the movie is playing. That guide is to put the movie in the text. I'll check out some vegas 4 forums. Do you know any good forums, or tutorial sites.

    Hi Jorge,

I know the effect or end result is what you want, but (I'd guess) it uses the same principles that you need - applying a matte to something so that something else can show through.

You just need to understand those principles, look into Vegas 4 with that new knowledge and see if you can figure it from there - with that kinda basic knowledge, I've found tools are more intuitive.

    Good luck...

As for forums / tutorial sites for Vegas 4 - sorry, no idea. All I can suggest is look under the tool in the "Tools" section here for guides or useful links. Or go to the Vegas site and see if there's a forum there.

Have you tried googling for "Vegas users forum"?

  8. Just add a credit roll from the generated media tab to a track above your movie track.

Here's a great site for you to check for all vegas related stuff. www.vasst.com and go to the tab 'all things vegas'

    Hi Jorge,

I just spotted this guide on the home page (under "Latest guides"). It relates to Vegas 5, but may be of use or may also have tutorials for Vegas 4...

Well, Ive got another question. You know how news reporters talk, and a picture of what their usually talking about is right above them. How do I do that? Because I wanted to make a vid like if I was a newsreporter, and have a minature pic of what Im talking about to the right of me.

Insert a new video track above your main video track, then edit the track motion to place it in your desired postion.
