  1. Captured LDs via Canopus An to Dig convertor box.

    Considering that I am encoding cartoons and framerate is less of an issue should I convert my DV to PAL and take advantage of the higher resolution?

    Are there other issues which make this a bad idea?

    IMO, a fake resizing won't give you something for real.

    The DV is significantly higher res than the final product will be. I would simply be encoding the DV into the higher res PAL format instead of NTSC.

    Or am I getting confused.

    You should encode it to the standard used by your intended audience (=yourself), regardless of source.

  5. the resolution is the same. i remember asking this question before. it doesn't matter whether pal or ntsc, it's the same resolution, can't remember why but just is.

    The vertical lines are not the same. You have to add vertical lines (to resize) when you convert from NTSC to PAL. So, what you gain, is a fake...
