I have been wondering about this for awhile, I guess a few years ago Ive never thought much about copyrights, rights and things like that, but I guess nowadays when you want to make video content on your own, all of a sudden it seems much more difficult. With all the stuff thats copyrighted, how can one create something original without having to worry about other people's content? It would seem that there arent any ideas left to make something original without having to be bothered with other folk's work. Like say I wanted to use my camcorder and record different parts of town I lived in for a video that shows more about my hometown or something. Of course it wouldnt be sold for profit, but just for my own personal use. If say I wanted to show my young brother the video I made showing the town where I lived or something (since he lives several states away from me). Music of course would be another story. If I was more musically talented, I wouldnt have to worry about that either. Unfortunately most people dont like anyone using their work or--you have to cut your arm off in two places to hope they would let you use something .

But I have been able to create a studio name for myself--may not be known to the outside world, but at least now I have a studio name I have for myself to use for any original content I may make. Any thoughts?

    VTM

Everyone's got the musical talent in 'em!!! I get people telling me all the time, "Gee I wish I could make up music!"... I'm like, "What's stopping you then?".

With all the brilliant free software out there today, there's really no excuse. It doesn't take much to string together 3 notes into a simple melody. Or just experiment with weird sounds & effects! That's fun, too!

Of course, knowing guitar chords & blasting 'em through a Boss Hyper-Fuzz pedal helps, too! :P

    You're joking, right?

There's a difference between stringing together a few bars into a midi file, and actually composing or playing something good

    That's all that matters, VideoTechMan!

You DON'T make up music to please an audience!!!!

    You do it for YOURSELF!!!!

That's why self-created music/sound FX/whatever work best for your own video productions. You can tailor-make it to perfection. Why give some idiot you don't even know the privilege of using their music/sounds on YOUR video production?

    DIY - all the way!
