  1. I have several very old movies on VHS that were never released on Laserdisc or DVD that I would like to digitize. I have several ATI All-In-Wonder cards but they will not circumvent Macrovision. When I copy the signal via VirtualDub, the preview picture looks fine but the final digital copy is solid green except for a small strip of picture at the top. I'm assuming this is Macrovision preventing the copy. Anyway, I really want to get these movies copied but I don't want to spend $100 on a device to circumvent the Macrovision. I only have two movies that I really want to digitize. Is there any other alternative that might work? Perhaps a very cheap capture card that circumvents Macrovision? A software filter of some kind?

    Hello,

Well it's not that cheap but my huappauge wintv pvr250 disables it during capture.

  3. On Ebay you can find a black box for around $20 that will remove macrovision on many vhs movies. It can be powered by 9 volt battery or an ac adapter. You just plug the output from the vcr into the box and then run an output from the box into whatever your recording device is. Works pretty well. Occasionally hasn't worked on some animated films for me.

  6. I hope it works for you but it might not. Here is a post for someone who found that it did not bypass macrovision.

I have the Sima SCC and it does a good job of bypassing macrovision.

Leadtek TV2000xp, quality is not the best but good enough. Actually a pretty good deal, the software alone that it comes with is more than the $40-$50.

  9. i don't kow if it still exist but check out on the net if you can find stinky's tool it's made to disable macrovision specifically on ati card. or if you don't want top quality usually a cheap rca to coax converter will also do the trick.
    hope that helps

Remember that the cheap filter-type macrovision removal "cheat boxes" work by removing part of the video signal ...the part with the MV pulse. Being filters, they will also filter out some of the legitimate video, so be prepared for a quality hit
