  1. Hi all - I did some searching and still haven't found an answer on this.

I ripped using DVD Shrink's latest 3.2 using the Backup, selecting a single Title and backing up to a video_ts folder. When importing this into TMPG DVD Author it comes back with the error "GOP is too long." Many recommend simply hitting Ignore and forgetting about it. I tried this and the video is choppy, both in computer playback of the VIDEO_TS folder (WinDVD 6) and a burned DVD-R.

I also tried ripping demuxed streams using DVD Decryptor. Same error whe importing into DVD Author.

Any clues? I haven't seen much discussion on this. Is there any method of fixing this?

Sounds like the DVD was authored with an out-of-spec GOP.

this post helped someone else so it might work for you. If it doesn't, I think you might have to re-encode.
    If in doubt, Google it.

I have a bunch of SVCDs that I created in the past before I moved to DVD. They were made with DVD2SVCD and all of them have the error 'GOP too long'. I ignored it and burned anyway and they all play on my settop.

I think jimmalenko has a better idea to make them standard, though I have had good luck with my 'no' method.

  4. This was a retail DVD I own, so I think the issue is rather DVD Shrink.

I tried out Nic's ReJig as recommended in another thread, but didn't see a "GOP fix" function of any kind...will try MPEG-VCR now.
