AMD has recently announced two new CPUs, the FX-55 and the 4000+ and AnandTech has kindly benchmarked various video encoders and compared the two high end AMD processors to the top of the line Intel pentiums:

AMD CPUs have now pulled almost even in this area with Intel and continue to outperform Intel in most non-video encoding tasks. AMD's worst performance is with the Pentium-optimized DiVX 5.2.1 encoder and the speed difference is only about 10%.
Also discussed is the new NVidia NForce 4 AMD Socket 939 motherboard with PCI express.

You do realize that the p4 that wins is a ee ,which is about 800$ ,the normal consumer level p4 at 3.6 gets destroyed.

Why don't they do an AVI to MPEG test? Preferably using TMPEGenc. If anybody has one of these new AMD's how long to convert an hour of AVI to MPEG, roughly?
He's a liar and a murderer, and I say that with all due respect.
