Ave,
Just wanted to get some advice and information on what most people are using for Authoring & Burning thier DVD movies.
My process is simple and i'd like to give it out here just so someone can point out any mistakes or shortcomings in my method. In the beginning i never had any problems, but now my DVDs skip, pause and get stuck after 1 or 1 & half hours of play. My entire problem can be found here: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=241403
Anyhow, here's what i do.
With a movie file (AVI, MPG) whatever.... i use GSPOT to determine time-length, frame rate, audio & video codecs.
I use BitRate Calc to determine the Bitrate.
I use FFMPEGGUI to create AC3 audio at 448 bitrate.
Using TMPGENC Xpress, i encode the Video with appropriate settings depending on PAL or NTSC.
I have tried DVD Maestro & TMPGENC DVD Author to import the M2Vs and AC3s and images to create menus and chapters and to finally author the DVD.
I liked the control i had in DVD Maestro but it took way too long to Parse when importing files, and to compile when done.
Although TMPGENC DVD Author doesn't take any time to parse, and less time then Maestro to compile, it doesn't give that much control. Yet, right now i'm using TMPGENC DVD Author to do the Authoring.
I have only used Nero for burning, never anything else. Nero 5 before, and now Nero 6.
Is there anything wrong in my method? Is there something better i can use?
I'm looking for better options or correct options because my DVD Movies are skipping and pausing and getting stuck.. it's not working out anymore. Although i feel it's my DVD Burner, but i want to make sure i'm not doing something wrong in the Authoring & Burning process.
Ave,
Mickey

Hello,
Have you tried different brands of discs??? That often is the culprit, at least according to what I've read on this siteOriginally Posted by Mickey79

Well i've tried 2 different kinds. An expensive brand and an Inexpensive brand. The result has been the same.Originally Posted by yoda313

That is more likley due to poor/cheap media or incompatibility between player and media than anything to do with autoring or burning (besides which your process looks fine). Try a different brand media. Maybe take a look at the DVD players list to see what others have said about your player and compatible media types/makes.Originally Posted by Mickey79

You know what.. you're right. I'm beginning to feel it's the media rather then anything else myself now. Gosh.Originally Posted by bugster
