Does anyone here encode their DV to XviD? I am trying to get this codex down pat. I like how it doesn't smooth the image too much like DivX does, but I have problems with 2nd-passes introducing blurred out chunks on my image that bother me. Does anyone have any advice?
Oh crap, I've posted in the wrong section, haven't I? I'm sure an admin will move this to the approproate one soon.

If you don't need files of a specific size (eg 700MB to fit on a CD) try using Quantization mode. It's a constant quality mode done in one pass. It will save you a lot of time. You'll probably want to use Quantization values in the 2 to 5 range. It's just hard to predict exactly who big the final file will be.
I usually use set the Quantization value at 3.0 and the average video bitrate turns out somewhere between 1000 and 2000 kbps. Really noisy, or bouncy video will put you in the higher range. Clean smooth video near the lower end.
