What is the maximum DivX encode bitrate you were able to play smoothly on you Philips DVP 642?

I cannot get past 2000kbps, no matter how defensive encoding settings are applied, bot divx and xvid.
The DivX Home Theater logo http://www.divx.com/certified/technical.php on 642 should ensure 4000kbps average with 10000kbps spikes.

My DV source is NTSC 720x480, I am trying to maintain this resolution.
The playback is skippy beyong 2000kbps regardless of preserved interlace or not.

The rest of my DivX CD's are playing smoothly, most of them my DVD backups. Note all of them are having bitrate belo 2000kbps.

I've already posted the same question at divx.com forums, but no answer yet:

Why I'm trying this? I'd like to store my weekend or vacation DV clips on inexpensive media, where I can add files as needed, and still preserve the quality. I thought divx and dvp 642 would be ideal combo...

So, what is your max divx bitrate that plays smooth on DVP 642?

Thanks,

Bob
