    Hi
I have 30 video 8 tapes recorded with a Sony CCD-V200E. I want to capture them to my hard disk at 720 x 576 pixels MPEG2. After I have done this I will have no further use for my capture card as I now use DV. The DV camera has no analog pass thru. I edit with Videostudio 8. Can you recommend a reasonable capture card less then £70 (c.$125)? I don't really want to use my on board sound card as I have read in these forums that audio sync problems can happen. Also I dont need it for capturing TV. Many thanks for your time.

Even though you say you don't need it for TV, your cheapest option is going to be a TV card with analogue inputs. A colleague at work is doing exactly what you want to do using a Pinnacle PCTV Stereo card. This was £39.99 from www.svp.co.uk (look in the hardware section) and works perfectly. He is capturing from 8mm and Betamax (yes, some of it is that old!) and has nad no audio sync problems at all.

For your case, canopus 50 is a good choice.
A bit more expensive (about 175 Euros) but it is the best solution. IMO always.
