On my Magnavox MRV640 recorder I attempted to add channels automatically and manually. Manually I can register 69 channels that use the antenna and that is ok. With cable I can add channels from 1 to 125 and that is not ok in as much that my cable TV goes up to 840 channels. Regardeless what I do I cannot go beyond 125.
Did anyone else have this problem.
Thanks, bulach

This is normal. The tuner inside a VCR or DVR only gets these channels. To receive the higher channels you need a cable converter box which is not built in to the DVR. If you previously had a VCR, this is just the same.
How your record those higher channels depends on how you've connected the DVR and the cable box together. The DVR's installation manual may give you guidance on this. -
I believe IR blaster is what you need to hook up, but surfing will be slow. Should be in your manual.

Frobozz is right, your recorder only has an analog tuner. It can't get all the digital channels. You'll have to use your cable box for that.

Thank you for the reply with helpful info, Frabozz-sirtfus-junkmalle. I reviewed the hookup according to the manual and made the necessary change. Now it works just fine. Us new kids on the block are fortunate for your assistance. One day I hope to help someone.
