  1. Hello everyone. I keep thinking I am understanding stuff and I run into more problems! I have used 2 of baldricks guides to help me put my avi on dvd. I have on avi in particular that is not AC3. I extracted the audio to a .wav and then converted to AC3 using besweet. I ran my video through g-spot, and bitrate calc and captured the screen. Now, I assumed that I could load up the audio and video into TMPGEnc as E + S individual streams, but TMPGenc is not recognizing the file format. Any suggestions on another encoder to use or another way to handle this problem. I still consider myself a noob, so simple suggestions work best for me Thank you in advance to anyone who can help me create my first DVD...

    Hi Intuit,

    You're nearly there...

Encode the video only with TMPGEnc - "ES (Video Only)". This will give you video.m2v.

Then, when authoring (try TMPGEnc DVD Author as a good place to start, if you're not using it already), use the separate video.m2v and audio.ac3 files as the inputs.

As an aside, you might wanna try ffmpeggui to get your AC3 as it's a much simpler interface than BeSweet's.

    Hope that helps. Good luck...

    Hi Intuit,

If you haven't found it already, find the guide(s) that detail "How To... Covert Divx to AVI". Look in the links on the left.

They'll give the info for how to set up TMPGEnc. I convert DV AVI to MPEG2 for DVD so my settings will be different to yours.

    However, this link:

    https://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?guideid=303#303

...is a good guide for the settings in TMPGEnc. Though your actual figures may differ, it's good for understanding what they are in TMPGEnc.

Don't forget to rate it if you use it...

    Good luck...

Are you doing 2-pass VBR? If so, that's normal (I think, from memory).

Read the info in the link I gave above for an explanation on the settings in TMPGEnc as it's very useful for a general read, but it'll also explain what happens during 2-Pass VBR...

  9. Thanks. I read all about the settings, but I must say I can't really understand alot of it. Unfortunately my power went out last night inthe middle of encoding...grr. So I'm not sure if I even set TMPGenc up right. I will have to check after work today.
