Hi All,
My problem is that during the burning of a DVD movie backup, my computer suddenly reboots. I am using DVD Shrink 3.2 and Nero 6. Tried burning at slower speeds but still happens. The media I'm using is Ritek GO4 and Princo A grade, burner is LiteOn 812s with latest firmware and reader is LiteOn DVD/CD Rom. Can anyone help????

Could be that the power supply isnt powerfull enough. Is your burner a added device or did it come with the pc ?
Not bothered by small problems...

Oh, it's the Riteks - they are known to make your computer reboot.
Sorry - Just kidding - Sounds like power problem. First thought was overheating, but burning takes like no CPU at all, so that can't be it. It could also be something wrong with your Nero installation - what if you burn with something else?

Thanks for the replies fellas. Burner was an added item, and it works fine with CDR's. Power supply is 450Watt so that should be OK. System has 2 extra cooling fans as well. I haven't tried another burning prog. as yet. Maybe another program might be the answer, any suggestions what I should try? Nero 6 is a fresh install as well. I have the DVD burner set as master and the DVDrom as slave on the same IDE cable, could this be a problem? Look forward to any suggestions

A free way to go is create ISO of the VIDEO_TS/AUDIO_TS folders with ImgTools Classic, then burn image with DVDDecrypter. IMHO, this is also happens to be the method that creates the most compliant DVD Video

Yuor PeeCee is teh suxkcs!
Sorry, not being helpful huh? We get this question from time to time - it's either a bad software issue (when's the last time you cleaned house) or a bad hardware issue (are you doing this on a $500 special machine from HP). -

I had a similar problem when I first strted DVDs. It was caused by my Norton firewall software. Set your PC not to reboot on an error and see if you can track down the offending file..

Thanks for all the replies and help but it looks like the problem may be solved at last. I uninstalled Nero, rebooted, then reinstalled Nero, run defrag, rebooted and backed up 2 movies without a hitch. So it seems that Nero might have been the problem, a bad install maybe. Anyway time will tell I guess.
