i just myself a new pioneer dvr108....the problem is it wont read anything,it dont read cd`s or original dvd`s.....i`ll get a I/O error,tryed to burn some dvd and it works but with some write errors,when i try to verify the burn then i again get the I/O error.....
please anyone....what can it be?????

First start with the basics.
1. Make sure the IDE cable (wide flat cable) is connected nce and secure.
2. Check the jumpers on the back of the drive. Make sure it's set to the appropriate setting. If there are two drives on the same cable, one must be set to Master and another to Slave.
3. Make sure the drive is set to DMA mode. The way you change this setting will depend on the Operating System you are using.

the setting was correct"DMA IF AVAILABLE"
i reinstalled windows xp and installed sp2...still same I/O errors when it tryes to read something.the strange thing was i installed xp with the pioneer108 .......it did read the install disc???????
this is making me nuts -
what software do you use to burn dvds & to compress them?

i use nero 6.3 for video_ts files and dvddecrypter for img files.i just tried to open a disc with dvdshrink 3.2 and it said I/O error....i have cdrw/dvd player installed and this one opened the disc without problem...unfortunately i cannot burn with this one....
i flashed the pioneer to fw1.14(latest)actually the first thing i did,so i dont know if it worked with the previous fw1.06!!!! -

in the device that working i have region code 2 and region control rpc-2,the one thats not working i have region code all and region control rpc-1........is this wrong?????should it be rpc-2 also?????

i solved the problem....i just disconnected the other device i have and now its working fine....
