Problems with Backing up DVDs

I have just bought a Samsung 542A burner. Tried backing up movies on Sony 4x DVD-r and Princo 4x. While burning on Princo the burn process stops at 89%. It burns successfully on the Sonys but when playing the movie on a DVD player the starting of the movie is of great quality but it starts skipping and stopping as the movie goes on till it is unplayable. I have used DVD Fab, DVD shrink, DVD Decryptor for ripping and burning but the results are all the same. I have also used Nero Burning Rom 6 for burning.

I have tried ripping and burning atleast 6 diffrent movies all with the same result (as I did not wanna waste my sony disks ) The previews of the movies in DVD shrink is excellent. Only after it is burnt the problem crops up. I have tried my Pioneer 16x DVD Rom also for ripping.

Should I use another brands of DVDs or is there something wrong with my recorder.

Some options:
- burn at a lower speed.
- lower DVD Shrink target size to 4300MB, so as not to write to/read from the discs outer-edge.
"Edit >> Preferences >> Target Size >> Custom >> 4300MB"
- use better media.

buy some 4x prodisc from www.rima.com

much better quality than princo discs.

your problems sound like bad media to me.
