Can u help a newb get from AVI to _TS?

Can somebody please help.

I'm trying to convert a 700mb AVI file in FFMPEGX to output as VIDEO_TS so I can Toast it. The problem I keep having is that when the coversion is complete the files don;t seem big enough.

If I use the preset 'DVD-ffmpeg' and the info in the bitrate calculator looks ok. DVD, 4000mb etc and in post processing I check the 'output as _TS' box but after about an hour I get about 5 different files outside the _TS folder amounting to no more than 500mb.

What am i doing wrong? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

This is an authoring problem. Demux the MPG file and remux it "as DVD" and reauthor it "as DVD". All these tools are available in the Tools tab.

ffmpeg engine is still subject to DVD authoring problems, though usually demuxing and remuxing solves them.

Could my problem be that I don't have mpeg2enc installed? I thought if I encoded through mencoder I wouldn't need it.

Does anybody know where I can find a step by step guide for converting AVI to Video_TS as I've got no idea what i'm doing and what encoder to use.

Any help is appreciated.

You can adapt this guide http://homepage.mac.com/major4/divx_svcd.html by selecting the DVD quick preset instead of SVCD quick preset.

Should I use the DVD-(mpeg2enc) or DVD-(ffmpeg)? Is there any difference?
