    I mean, if I burn a VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folder to a CD (assumming their total size is say no more than 800MB), will this CD behave as a "DVD" and be playable in a home DVD player?

    No. Most dvd player can't play minidvd or cdvd, www.videohelp.com/minidvd (ooooold page but some info) or do a search for minidvd or cdvd.

    I used to do burn a CD as a DVD player before I got a DVD burner (a few years ago !) and it did work on 2 out of 3 of my home players. I agree that MOST players wont do it but for the price I say give it a go..
