Hi,
Just donated and have tried my first conversion. I am very impressed with the speed, however I have an issue with sound pops.
They are infrequent however noticable. They occur at least once every 5 minutes at random times. I am currently encoding using the MPEG Audio encoder for maximum compatibility. I presume the AC3 audio will not work on all PAL players? Or am I wrong?
I do want to encode at the compliant 48khz sound frequency for maximum compatibility.
The sound squeeks do not appear on the source and I have confirmed that the mpeg files are valid.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
Gary

Just to note. I have also encoded an entirely different Movie to confirm that the source was not the problem.

well after converting i checked that it was ac3 by putting it in to my pioneer dvd drive, then my pioneer surround sound system lit the 'Dolby Digital' light which is what I get when sound is in 5.1 or AC3. If its in LCPM or MPEG I get the 'Stereo' light. I also checked in dvd shrink and the audio was marked as AC3 so I am fairly confident that it is indeed AC3, with no sound pops! And yes, with FFMPEG ticked.
But if i ticked the other two options above and below the AC3 options in SVCD2DVD then I got the sound pops back again. So this was very odd! -
When I got pops it was with the trial version of svcd2dvd with FFMPEG selected. I was getting some pops. So after I donated and got the registered version, I unchecked FFMPEG and never got any pops.. but it took much longer. Being that I never did try FFMPEG with the registered version, I decided to try. I figured I would get the pops back. But I did not hear anything and it takes alot less time. Basically, it appears in my experiences that the trial version is wacked.

v1.5 doesn't allow you to use mpegs with AC3 as source files. It can however produce mpegs with AC3 as output from normal mp2 audio mpegs.
v2 accepts AC3 mpegs as input....
HighDesert: i suspect you had a strange mpeg which give you pops in the demo.... or are you saying the same mpeg is been used in both?SVCD2DVD v2.5, AVI/MPEG/HDTV/AviSynth/h264->DVD, PAL->NTSC conversion.

The one thing that does bug me somewhat is the freezing on some movies in the first second. This still happening with around 20 percent of my movies. Hitting the next chapter and rewinding back to after it freezes is the workaround. In the movies this happens it will freeze on every stand alone player I have tried. But they play fine on powerdvd on PC.
