Is there any difference in layer quality (ink quality) between Verbatim DVD x8 and x16 or is it just the burning speed that makes the difference?
The speed is not of importence to me but i the quality is very important.

I have heard a lot of good reports on the MCC 003 DVD that Verbatim uses.

Should i be concerned if the Verbatim discs is made in India?

I have verbatim MCC 003/004 and they are great. No problems. Not a single coaster cause by dvds, had one but that was my fault accidently cancelled burn app....haha. I have the 8x whit hub printables that say they are made in taiwan. I usually stay away from taiwan blanks, but with verbatim I've never had a problem so i don't even look where they're made. Also, FUJI 8x dvd+r made in Japan are great as well, they were TYs code YUDEN002 from BB.

  3. Not sure about the 8x or 16x but I've burnt about 200 Verbat 4x +r's with the same media code and not one coaster yet!

I find the Verbatim +R 8x and 16x to be exactly the same. They do have different media codes though.

My Pioneer 108 (with stock 1.18 firmware) burns the 8x ones great at 12x. I bought some 16x to try 16x burning, but the Pioneer limits them to 12x. So for me, both the 8x and the 16x Verbatim +Rs are excellent 12x disks. The 8x are cheaper though.

    To Sabro:

I have used Verbatim DVD+R 4x too and they worked very well.
But some of them (i bought 50 in a cakebox) had something that looked like dust in one part of the disc. It couldnīt be cleaned off. I burned them anyway and they worked perfect. Tested them afterwards with Nero CD/DVD speed and there were no errors on the discs.
I have hoped that the 8x and 16x discs are more carefully made and "spotless".
The 4x (MCC 002) i bought were made in India and i bought them in Germany in 2004.

  6. Jojjan,

Luckly the dye on my 4x's appear to be flawless (un-burnt) and were a 30 pack cake made in Taiwan sent to me by a friend in Florida who found them brand new at a yard sale for 3 bucks.

    [edit]
The ones I tested for the media code was from a 30 pack, but still have not have problems with any Verbat's I've burnt.

    Sabro,

    Thanks for your answere.

I will try to explain this in english.
The "spotts" that i have on some Verbatim 4x is not in the dye layer.
They are on the very surface on the burningside. (plastic?)

I like Verbatim and i will continue to buy them.
I just became a bit concerned when some of the discs had little spotts because i buy my discs in cakeboxes and thought that this defects had a bad burning result.
    But they work.
Maybe i just got a bad bunch of discs.
