  1. Office Max has the Mad Dog 6 in 1 DVD burner for $9 after rebates till 9-30 if anyone is interested. It's $49 and $40 in rebates. You have to spend $50 to get free shipping, I bought 50 slim CD cases for $2.99 too to get the free shipping.

Wow! I have seen some low prices on DVD burners, but this takes the prize. How can they produce them and sell them at $49, let alone $9?

Anyway, this isn't for me (I just bought the $86 Pioneer 108), but for someone on a very limited budget, how can you go wrong for $9?

I'll have to pick up two on the way home. Now I just have to call my mother-in-law that's she's getting a DVD writer.

Office Max is where I got my last bargain. A 105 for $139, a whopping $100 off the going price back then. Holy sh#$$t, $9, I can't believe it.

    Have a good one,

    neomaine

  7. I just returned one last week in order to get a Pioneer 108. I was going to keep the Mad Dog as a spare, but instead I'll hang on to my 107D for a while. Office Max always seems to have a good deal on these drives. A while back, I had a coupon for $10 off and got a CD-RW for free....

One way is that it could be unable to burn DVDs

Actually, it is $49.00 with a $40.00 rebate, so you have to cross your fingers and hold your mouth right and have hope that you will one day in 6 to 8 weeks get back your forty dollars. Other than that good luck please also post your findings, good or bad. BTW I just picked up a Microadvantage 8X DVDR for $49.00 with rebates so I am crossing my fingers and will probably go over tomorrow and check out the Mad Dog sale of course as a back up

  11. I have bought many times from office max with rebates, got the rebate every time.

  12. Office Max usually delivers on their own rebates but they stiffed me a year ago selling a CD burner with a $40 rebate through a company that had been bankrupt for over a month. Bad business.
Still a few bugs in the system...

Granted OfficeMax has some great prices after rebate, this one included.

I actually ordered and recieved the same drive a week ago when the after rebate price was $19-us

Went to local store with print out of online ad.
They had it in stock, shelf price $119, price scan result was $79
Store refused to honor instant rebate
Local store is Riverside, Ca. USA

Went home and tried to order online, on check out message said not available to ship in my area, check local stores for availability

online provided an 800 # to call if problem so I called and they said they could do nothing

This is not the first time I have had problems with OfficeMax honoring sale ads, even printed instore ads.

Many times they just do not put advertised item on the shelfs, you have to ask/demand they check in the back.

Agree it is killer deal if you can get it

  14. I've always gotten my rebates from Office Max. Once I made a mistake when I submitted it, but I called the rebate people and they fixed it....

  15. Yeah? I called them one time wondering where mine was & the woman said that since I didn't call at 4 weeks to find out where it was that she would NOT give it to me.

However, I noticed with this one you can submit your rebate online.

Oh, my, I noticed I should have said that she would give it to me when in fact she would not.

  16. You can submit online, but you still have to mail in the UPC and a copy of the receipt, so I don't know what good it is to do it online.

I've had great luck with OfficeMax. Just last week the wife wanted a small safe to store photo albums. OM had a $99 one with a $50 instant rebate. Local store wouldn't honor it so I went home and ordered online that afternoon. Bumped the price with a $2 purchase to get it over $50 for free shipping. The 90 pound safe showed up the next morning (obviously it came from a local store).

I've also sent in a few dozen rebates on other items. Received them all.

By the way, is the Mad Dog / Toshiba drive any good.

I bought one of these a year ago, when it was $80 minus $30 MIR, $50 final price. If you don't need 8X or faster, and if you don't need +R/+RW burning capability, then it's a fantastic drive.

Just odered one yesterday for free after rebate. ($40-40 rebate). Received it today. I am going to use it as a reader and back up writer. The ripping speed is as fast as my NEC 2500 8x writer. 6 1/2 minutes for a single sided DVD. It will also read DVD-RAM at 2X after I installed the DVD-RAM driver from Toshiba web site. The audio Cd ripping speed is slower (15.5X versus 25X). I can copy a audio CD on the fly for 4 1/2 minutes. Not bad at all.

Not I know of. I rarely burn DVD+R, so it is not a issue for me.

  25. FYI,

MadDog honors their rebates but will take 8 to 10 weeks to get it.

Apparently Los Angeles is out of their delivery area. I can understand, it's so out of the way.

  27. Got mine the other day, so far I direct copied a CD at 16x and it has periodic popping (not noticable to someone who doesn't know what to listen for) more so at the end of the disc.

Using blank Fuji CDRs. The source CD does not have the clicks fyi.

    Haven't tried burning DVD-R yet.

-EDIT- If you cache the CD as an image to the HD beforehand the jitter goes away, still I could copy direct from Disc to Disc with my old Sony 12x CD burner. My Riteks should get here tonight from RIMA so I will be checking DVD-R Burn quality over the weekend.
