  1. I'm using DVD AUdio Extractor to rip DVD Audio to MP3s on my hard drive....would it be better to extract to WAV files first and then use LAME to encode to MP3, or should I just do straight to MP3?

DVD AUdio Extractor says it uses LAME Encoder 3.3.6.3 or something like that....

I'm looking for overall sound quality since I will be using the audio partially in an Ipod, and partially for something else..

After that is done, I will be doing the audio tracks by chapters...can someone recommend a good program to join the audio tracks while still keeping each track's number and Title so if I burn it to a CD, I don't have the 2 second pause between each track and make it one complete file?

Or should I just rip it into one big MP3 and then use an Audio Editing Program to insert track #s and titles?

  2. If you're concerned about quality, then MP3 is a bad idea to begin with as you will lose a large range no matter how you slice it esp. if you're ripping already compressed mp2/ac3 files.

I rip the wavs and use mp3Pro VBR (Variable Bitrate) at 100% and I use Adobe Audition/CEP 2x batch convert for it.

You can't really rip a DVD w/ track names like a CD, using DVD Audio Extractor you will get 1 large file no matter how you slice it.

When you burn a wav file onto a CDR (should never be converted to an MP3) if you use Nero just set the pause inbetween tracks to 0, track01 always has to be 2 as a Redbook rule.

Again if it's quality you want I would reccomend using a Redbook Complinat app such as Sony CD Arcitech...but Nero is easy and usually pretty compatiable.

Last of all use high quality CD-Rs.

  3. DVD Audio Extractor is allowing me to separate the audio stream based on the chapter stops on the DVD itself...so in essence, it does have tracks. I can do it as separate tracks, or as one large tracks. I would just like to have something that resembles tracks so I can go to exactly where the portions of audio are that I know I want...like skipping songs that U don't like on a CD

I don't have Adobe Audition of Cool Edit Pro to work with either..let alone Sony Architect

PLus, MP3Pro isn't supported on my Ipod.
