  1. I am awaiting delivery of 2 MP 1800 cpus and trying to make a decision on a MB... Read several reviews - Tyan/ASUS and others but looks like there are pro's and con's to them....

Any help/commets and/or real life experience appreciated!

  4. And I also recommend the Asus A7M266-D mainboard, if you can still find one.

I never used one myself, but two clients of mine do, and they swear by them.

That was the one I found to be the most stable...
The guy I'm getting the procs from will sell the board as well for an additional chunk of change, but I was looking for something "newer"...

    Appreciate the input Indo,

Athlon MP mobos are pretty much done for. If you can spring it, I would highly consider a Opteron or a Xeon board that has Nocona support. The www.2cpu.com forums are the place to go to find out what's right for you.

SuperMicro has a wide variety of Dual CPU boards. They're a bit pricey from what I remember though, but they offer a lot of features.

Since he's got 2 1800s in the mail I doubt he'll change his mind and septuple his budget on the latest SMP gear

My vote is for the Tyan 2466 (the 4M revision). It's like the 2460 I have but without any of the ATX power woes.

Which one did you get new? They must still be making the 2466?

That's cool, just be sure to save all your receipts and your board box. Tyan has a fantastic warranty. When I RMA'd my 2460 I got a new one back in a week.
