    Is there anyway to encode in black and white to decrease the bitrate and keep the same quality encoding? Can it be anything like saving a color image into black & white and substantially reducing the file size?

    I ask because I am trying to capture/encoder black&white vhs to vcd or dvd. Any tips on black and white capture/encoding?
