  1. For the TMPGenc 3.0 Xpress svcd setting

Is there a significant quality between the two (SVCD NTSC and NTSC Film). The only I see different is the Framerate fps. One is 29.97 fps and the other is 23.976fps

For encoding Xvid movies, should I use the SVCD NTSC Film?

    Super Video-CD template specification

    SVCD NTSC
    Framerate 29.97 fps
    Resolution 480×480
Rate control mode CBR / VBR from 1600 to 2520 Kbps
    Audio format MP2 224 Kbps
    Video format MPEG-2

    SVCD NTSC Film
    Framerate fps 23.976
    Resolution 480×480
Rate control mode CBR / VBR from 1600 to 2520 Kbps
    Audio format MP2 224 Kbps
    Video format MPEG-2

    thanks for your help

If your movie is 23.976 fps convert it to NTSC Film.
If it's 29.97 fps (it rarely is) then choose NTSC.
If it's 25 fps converting it to NTSC with TMPGEnc will be jerky.
GSpot and VirtualDub (among other tools) can show you the framerate of your XviD movie.

I have done numerous conversions from 25 fps to 29.97 fps using TMPGEnc 3.0 and they come out perfectly. No jerkiness whatsoever.

I have finally compared TMPGEnc Plus with TMPGEnc Xpress for interlaced PAL to interlaced NTSC conversions.

    TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 duplicates frames.
    TMPGEnc XPress 3.0 duplicates fields.

So XPress is indeed better than Plus, but still not as good as ProCoder, Vegas or Avisynth.
