  1. I am trying to back-up the movie "The World Is Not Enough".

I ripped it with DVDDecripter, with no problems.

But, when I tried to open it with DVDShrink, it crashed as it tried to read the Video_TS.vob. This file contains part of the behind the scenes stuff, as well as the main menu.
CloneDVD failed as well, when the actual scanning was to start.

All the other parts open fine, so I thought I could just reencode the movie, and put it back, smaller than it had been, but the IFOs don't like the new VOBs. (and the VIDEO_TS.IFO didn't like the new IFOs) I tried both the new IFOs that were generated, and the original ones with the same no-go results.

I don't understrand why the movie is being such a pain. Is there any way to fix these files?

Before it is suggested, I want the special features. That's why I like DVDs, the extras. (I don't know why so many DVD fans here hate them)

I'd rather not reauthor, if it can be avoided. It takes more time than I want to devote to it.

I highly doubt that this is some sort of copy protection. It may just be a bad original, somehow. But I would have thought it would have made the ripper complain, if that were the case.

I am also a fan of extras, as well as DTS sound tracks, however when it comes to making backups, the other reason I like DVDs comes to the fore - picture quality. If I want to back up the extras, and they are going to compromise the picture quality of the movie, I'll split the disk and keep the movie on one disk, and the extras on a second.

Having said that, If you can't back this up as it is, you probably wont be able to reauthor it either, as it will still have to read the vob. I'd try re-ripping it to see if you can get something you can work with.

  3. make sure you have the newest releases of dvd decrypter and clonedvd 2...i had no problems with that movie when i was backing it up..decrypted entire dvd then used the clonedvd feature "make movie with all titles and menus"..took out the subtitles i didnt want and languages and let it burn from there..the only thing i liked about shrinkdvd was it had a ripper and encoder all in 1..other than that i think my clonedvd2 works better..have not had a coaster yet since i been using it..good luck

  4. I've re-ripped it several times already with no change.

I reached the conclusion that it is just a bad file

  5. Ok, wrap your brains around this one.

I managed to get it to work in DVDShrink, but I had to shrink from the DVD (via AnyDVD). The ripped files give an error, but the DVD doesn't.

    I cannot figure out why.

    Anyone else ever see this?
