I am looking to upgrade my athalon xp 1800+
I am leaning towards a Pentium 4 3ghz with 800 mhz fsb
My question is should I get the Mach Speed X-Caliber PT800DBP VIA Socket 478 for $39.99 or spend the extra money and get a
Asus P4R800-V Deluxe ATI
I do lots of editing and encoding. I like the mach speed for the $40 price after rebate, plus lifetime warranty. The asus is $116 and only has a 1 yr warranty. I am not interested in overclocking.
Or any ideas on a good motherboard/brand
Thanks in advance

WEll I've NEVER heard of a brand Mach Speed before, which means they are either super generic or new, or a non US brand. ON the other hand Asus can be a bit awesome.
Sooooo... I'd go with the Asus if its a pick between those two. -

Thanks,
I will get an asus. Any ideas on which particular board. I am looking at the P4R800-V Deluxe ATI, It seems to have moderate reviews. It has onboard video, would you recommend using the onboard video for editing? -
Video editing does not rely on the graphics card, so onboard graphics will be fine. Video editing does require a lot of CPU power and actual editing probably needs a fair amount of RAM too. Onboard graphics use system RAM as VRAM, so a cheap graphics card may be a better solution for you.
