    I don't mind Nickelback.

Having listened to the sample, it is amazingly/surprisingly similar though.
    If in doubt, Google it.

I've seen them at Livestock before. Pretty good band live. They've got a good sound and a lot more talent than a lot of the bands out there these days. That said, rock music in general has pretty much nosedived since the late 80s, early 90s.

I find it funny that they are on a metal record label. The same as GWAR

Curry, Your band doesn't suck....just Creed, Nickelback and 3 Door Down. Plus I'm not jumping on the bandwagon; I started the bandwagon and have been riding for 4 years

The only thing I regret about my Creed Suck T-shirt is that they went and broke up making it pointless to wear.

Now I just want one that says "I hate that band you like."

I just can't figure out people who think that everything that gets airplay on the radio sucks. I'll never understand that. MOST of what is played on the radio IS crap....but when REAL musicians are being played on the radio...that is always a PLUS in my book.
That and the scenario that a local garage band travelling in a 71 VW bus is GREAT. Then when they actually start making money at what they do....and being able to actually EAT and survive...they all of a sudden are labeled "sellouts".
The best "sellout" quote I've heard was from the singer for Metallica when he said many of the diehard fans called them sellouts...and he said "yep...we sell out huge concerts every night"....or something along those lines.
I never liked Nickelback anyway....because my first thought was "...all of their songs sound the same".....
And I caught Milli Vanilli YEARS ago when I saw their video. My first though was "...those guys are so terrible...they can't even lip-sync to their own song"....I just couldn't grasp the extent of the whole thing. After all....HOW could you become so popular and have faked it the whole time?
    Silly me..

I dont hate bands just because they are popular. I just hate bands that I dont think have a creative bone in their bodies yet somehow gain massive popularity.

As far as selling out? I freaking hate Metallica not because they are sell outs, but because they are traders to their original fan base. But I think the best quote about selling out EVER was made by Tool.

    I met a boy wearing Vans 501s and a
Dope Beastie t nipple rings and
New tattoos that claimed that he
    Was OGT
    From '92
    The first EP.
    And in between
    Sips of Coke
    He told me that
    He thought
    We were sellin' out
    Layin' down
    Suckin' up
    To the man.

    Well now I've got some
    Advice for you little buddy.
    Before you point the finger
    You should know that
    I'm the man

    And if I'm the man

    Then you're the man, and
He's the man as well so you can
Point that f***in' finger up your ass.

All you know about me is what I've sold you,
    Dumb f***.
I sold out long before you ever heard my name.

I sold my soul to make a record,
    Dip s***,
    And you bought one.

    So I've got some
    Advice for you, little buddy.
    Before you point your finger
    You should know that
    I'm the man,

    If I'm the f***in' man
Then you're the fuckin' man as well
    So you can
Point that fuckin' finger up your ass.

All you know about me is what I've sold you,
    Dumb f***.
I sold out long before you ever heard my name.

    Dip s***,
    And you bought one.

    All you read and
    Wear or see and
    Hear on TV
    Is a product
    Begging for your

    Fat ass dirty
    Dollar

    So...Shut up and

    Buy my new record
    Send more money
    F****you, buddy.

I was thinking about that one as I was scrolling down before I got to your quote.

Hear tell TOOL has another album due out next year.

Speaking of CREED, it's always funny when a 'new' band forms with all but 1 member of an old band. Like Alter Bridge (still sounds like Creed) and Tantric (not so much like Days of the New). I'd probably just say 'we voted [fill in member name here] off the island' and keep the name. The again, maybe this is why I don't have a band yet (well that and a lack of musical talent)
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

To me, the change of name indicates that Scott Stapp was the driving force behind Creed in the beginning. Almost like how Axl Rose is STILL using Guns n Roses, when he's the only member left from the glory days. It makes me wonder, who determines if the band can keep the name ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

Actually I was quite disapointed with the last Tool CD. I guess I expected to much after Aenima.

Heck APCs 2nd wasn't as good either. I think I read somewhere they lost one of their original song writers or something. That would explain alot of it. Still a decent CD though.

I've heard that one SO many times....traitors....but nobody ever explains why. Is that written somewhere that people keep copying it over and over again?
    What's the difference between a traitor and a sell-out?

Never seen it written its just the obvious vibe you get form old Metallica fans. They became everything their fans avoided.

The difference between a trader and a sell out is that I dont care how much money they make. I've said before I'd have no problem with metallicas new stuff if they called themselves something different. I doubt I'd listen to them but I'd have less problem with it.

New Metallica is like crapping in a pond. No body notices for the most part except those who where there, the ones who knew the pond before it was crapped in. But if you crap in the pond enough times its no longer a pond its just full of shit. Thats what happening to their musical base. Its gone from all those great songs to a pond full of crap.

I thought Tool's last album was their strongest overall.
It was definately their best sounding album (production wise).
Some of their fans didn't think it was as strong as previous efforts.

I agree APCs first album was better.
Though.....I think the production on Thirteenth Step is better.
Production is so important in having a good album.
When I listen to tunes..they must be cranked right up.
If the production is poor, it's hard to listen to loud (ex...And Justice For All).

    Speaking of production problems.

Has anyone heard the song by Radiohead called Talkshow Host from the Romeo and Juliet soundtrack?

About 2min into the song the music picks back up and it sound so damned BAD. Strange thing is is nots mp3 compression because the CD sounds that way also, thats always weirded me out a little bit. Car, computer Klipsch speakers, nice headphones, cheap headphones, bad bad bad.

That's not a requirement these days. I've not heard a new band I liked in years. None of them have musical talent either, and worse yet, it's hidden behind these shitty vocals that sound like stoned talking more than singing. I think the last new song I cared for from a new band was one of the so-so hits by Days of the New years ago.

Creed blows, Linkin Park sucks, Tantric sucks, Evanescence blows, Nickelback sucks, Hoobastank sucks, ... I honestly don't know the names of most new bands. I change the station before they get that far (they always say song/author after it plays).

And that's just for rock. All those girlie bands, boy bands and American Idol-ish bands/"singers" (and I use the term loosely) are pure shit, make this bad rock look great. Anybody that thinks Britney can sing has got a serious tone deaf issue.

I'm also sick of seeing pre-pubescent thugs-in-training rapping about real life when they've barely just quit pooping their diapers. Well, just rap in general is pretty trashy, useless, and not music of any kind.

    They abandoned their old style.
I didn't have a problem with LOAD. I liked it.

But ReLoad was pretty blah, and then the latest one St Anger has some really good stuff, and then a lot of just crappy stuff.

They're trying to copy the success that Megadeth and Ozzy had by changing styles in the years, but it's just not working out for Metallica.

Megadeth hasn't sold 1/10 of the albums Metallica has.
Yes..Risk and Youthanasia suck and were both different, but has this helped their album sales? HELL NO.I have seen both of those albums in bins for like $6 new. The new Megadeth remix/remasters are amazing though. They sound great! Especially So Far, So Good, So What.

    St.Anger was horrible.
It has the shittiest drum sound I have ever heard.
It's not even listenable. They HAVE to ditch Bob ****.
