  1. -dvd video clip divided into two folders
    -i joined them using tmpgenc author, BUT subtitles seem to disappear after tmpgenc produces the final output
    -i want to retain the subtitles of course
    -any other way?

    What do you mean when you say dvd video clip? If they are VOB files you wish to join, you could try using DVD Shrink's Reauthor feature to join the two titles together.

  3. meaning the video dvd file is divided into two. so, each half has its own video_ts and audio_ts folders.

    dvd shrink can only shrink/re-author one dvd movie at a time? no?

    dvd shrink can join two dvd folders, I'm not sure about the subs though

    read some dvds to dvd guides

    (joining dvd folders is the same as joining two or more dvds)

    did you split the DVD orginally? Do you have the original DVD ?, if so just rip it again

    you can also use VOBEdit to join the VOB's using this guide
