  1. I normally capture to an avi file ussing the huffyuv codec and then encode to mpeg via tmpeg using an avisynth script and I was wondering which of these two resizes works best. Thanks.

  2. Bilinear is best for making the video smaller, and bicubic for making it larger.

    Well... Bicubic definitely better for increasing resolution but it also better decreasing resolution when resizing both ways, ie: 720x480 -> 352x240. If you are decreasing both horizontal and vertical resolution then Bicubic is generally a better choice.

    For resizing down only one way (720x480 -> 352x480) then bilinear is probably the better choice. I don't think it will necessarily give better quality, though it will result in less sharpening of the image, which may or may not be preferable, it will be much faster to encode.

    Hey Adam,

    What about Lanczos in comparison to the other 2? When is it better to use Lanczos as opposed to the others?
