  1. I recently converted an .avi file to dvd using DVD2SVCD. After authoring the dvd and burning it to DVD+R, I popped it into my player and discovered that I have scrolling video. The picture just keeps scrolling through the screen. The dvd plays fine in my computer. The tv works fine both when watching cable or other dvds, as I tested that tonight right after. My only thought is that the original file was in PAL format, which might not be compatible with the player. I have played SVCDs in PAL format with no problem however. Does anyone have any ideas?

  2. AVIs don't really have a PAL or NTSC format. Check your conversion settings in DVD2SVCD and in your DVD authoring software. Does the DVD play in black and white too on your TV? If so, then it's definately set for PAL.

  3. Well I used Virtual Dub on the original .avi file and that displayed that it was 25 fps. At that point, I went with the PAL format for encoding and authoring.

What is your player ? Have you cjhecked it against the list of players here to see if it handles PAL playback ?

  6. What is the source of the AVI? If it was DV, I remember reading forum postings about the setting for TFF. You may need to reverse that setting and then re-encode.
