I'm looking into getting a GPS/Navigation "thingy" of some sort. We lease our cars (company cars) and have little or no option to add a Nav system to the car...we basically take what is available.
Anyway...doing a search on Google or Yahoo gives you endless online retailers wanting to SELL you one....not much unbiased info to be found without digging through endless bullsh|t.
I have a computer program (D-Route - I'm in Germany) that says it will output to a Palm or PocketPC....is this the better route to go?...a Palm or PocketPC or is a full fledged Navsystem better?
I realize I will need to buy additional CD's to add different parts of the world TO my navsystem....but...what's the diff?
Anybody have any thoughts on which way to go? The permanent car systems are out of the question for me. I need something portable.
I realize if I need an "alternate route" due to unforseen trouble on my planned route...I'm screwed with a Palm or PocketPC? Am I understanding that correctly?

    Anyway...any help would be appreciated.

    Hello,

Well I have NO experience with this but if your going to do it get the full package. I know if you get anything that's a COMBO your no doubt going to lose some functionallity. Just my suggestion

  3. If you already have a PPC I would look at add on (compactflash sized) gps devices.

I know some come with a PC based MS Mapping software that allow you do 'dump' a map to your PCC and then your GPS will work within that maps boundry. (So for each city you visit you would have to create a new PPC map.

Now stand alone devices will no doubt cost you more and won't have as nice a screen / map as a PPC 'version' of the tool.
