Specifically, I'm looking for somebody who has experience with the "speedup" plugin in the "Time Effects" package. Does it simply remove occasional frames in order to perform the acceleration, or does it have a more complicated algorithm? Any insights would be appreciated.

Also, any suggestions of alternatives to this would be gratefully received. I'm attempting to do my own film-to DV conversions, and don't want to pay $200/hour for professional telecine work. I can slow my projector down to 15 fps to get rid of the flicker, and was hoping that iMovie would be able to speed it back up to "normal" speed after it's imported. If the stupendous plugin just drops frames, it seems like an expensive way of accomplishing the task. Knowing that QuickTime is AppleScriptable, I could probably export the DV stream to Quicktime, write a script to delete every "Nth" frame, and get the same result.

    Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks!!!

  2. Although I don't know the method that the plugin uses to speed up video clips, I do know that all of Stupendous software's iMovie plugins can be downloaded in demo form for evaluation. I was just today checking out their color correction plugins - the demo versions are fully functional, but when you do the final render they place some text and a big 'X' across the clip. This allows you to see the results while protecting their right to payment. For what it's worth, I was impressed with the color correction plugins I looked at.

That's not an option with this particular plug-in. It masks everything with a green and gray checkerboard, and none of the original signal remains.
