    Nothing in the readme or on LG's site. Has anyone done the upgrade? What does it do? It would be good if it allows faster burning on newer - and + R and especially on - and + RW as well as the new 3X DVD-RAM discs.

    I think it lets 8X media burn with no problems. I remember that Pioneer one time said people with Ao3 and Ao4 tat if they did not update the fimrware that they could break there drives. And yes people did break there drives.
