  1. Thats my sad tale of copying tonight. I did something or forgot to do something resulting in no audio for 'Lost in Translation'.

Did Full Disc Extraction with MTR.
DVD2One took it down to movie only when I chose the movie only files.
( I thought I followed the Galactic path and chose the largest file, about 4.3G).
Movie Looks great but no sound, so I am trying again.
Anything essential that I did not do?

I read every post I could find from my search and can't seem to find my answer. Thanks in advance.

And you did select an audio track, correct?

Note: The movie not worth your time

Make sure you got the AC3 audio track when you selected audio tracks in DVD2OneX, as I don't think DVD Player will play DTS unless you have a G5 hooked up via optical audio. I also agree that that movie sucked big time, and I'm a big fan of "crappy" movies (though not boring pointless ones).

Hey, that was a great movie! (even better if you have ever lived in Asia). Nicely understated (unlike most movies these days).

  5. Hey WW,

I selected DTS, it was the most recognizable format to me.
The AC3 looked like a 6 channel mix, it that 2 front 2 rear, 1 center and SW?
If so, brain cramp from me on that one.

    Any other advice? Greatly apprciated.

    Best, Rocco

6 Channel AC3 is 5.1 surround sound (1 center, 2 stereo, 2 rear, 1 subwoofer). If you play it on your Mac connected to stereo speakers or just using internal speakers, it will downmix to stereo during playback. DVD Player won't play DTS audio unless you have a Mac hooked up to a surround sound system through optical audio. It's also a good idea to get rid of DTS audio if you're compressing the DVD down, as it takes up a significant amount of space, and so the video quality will have to be much more greatly reduced than for the ac3 surround sound audio.

  7. Dear Wise One,

As I was driving into Boston this a.m. I was thinking about the new coaster I had made the night before when trying to burn L.I.T..
I was thinking about the whole soundtrack issue and then remembered, hey my iMac doesn't play DTS, maybe there is a soundtrack on it.
So, I just checked it out on the home player and Tadahhhh, I do have sound.
Thanks for the help and the info.

Question is, When using DVD2One do I use variable ratio or constant?

How would you do it to get the best picture using a SL burner?

    Thanks.

There is no global "best" setting for DVD2OneX. I usually use Constant mode, and switch to Variable or the different Selective modes if the quality is poor. It's really dependent on the particular DVD, as each one is encoded differently. Just keep trying different ones until you find a satisfactory one.
