I've been messing about with my new AIW card and it has involved lots of installing and uninstalling and now, suddenly, I get errors with all DVDrippers...none of them work now. Something important has clearly been uninstalled. What do you guys recommend? I have tried reinstalling various rippers and nothing works....sigh.

The error I get in Smartripper is :
Cannot change Visible in OnShow or OnHide
Does that help anyone? -
Uninstall AIW MMC, Uninstall ATI Video Driver. Goto regedit and delete any reference on ATI Software. Delete any ATI directory on the HD. Install direct X 8.0. Install dx80bda.exe. install the latest AIW video driver. Install MMC 7.1. Install ATI DVD Player. Don't use the CD's from the package. Download the all the latest drivers and softwares from http://www.ATI.com. Reinstall all the Other softwares. If this doesn't work, may be Sefy can help you.

Sefy,
No I don't have one of those installers. An email would be appreciated. I will uninstall and reinstall all the drivers if I have to but I WOULD prefer not to.

Check if the dma setting for the dvd rom is on as this stopped my pioneer from ripping!!!! also as sefy said check your aspi drivers, drivers can be downladed from cdmediaworld.com if u need them.

P@inKILLER,
You were absolutely right. For some odd reason ATI's DVD player activated DMA on my DVD. Thanks so much.
Macros -
DMA is usually activiate to increase speed, but with some mainboards this may cause more trouble then do any good, i've seen for example a very weird reaction on a Shuttle 591P that if the DMA is activated, then Audio CD's wouldn't play, but DVD and regular CD's would still work great.

Interestingly enough, I don't think it's my motherboard. BOth my harddrives and my CD-RW all have DMA enabled so it seems to be something peculiar to this particular DVD drive...go figure.

(on the crappy side it takes FOREVER to rip a movie....slightly over an hour to rip The Patriot in smartripper...sigh) -

Oh well, that explains it, I saw a Toshiba 16x/48x DVD drive that couldn't rip higher then 1.2x no matter what I did, and when i got the guy to switch to a Pioneer, suddenly big boost in ripping.
