  1. I have a Sony DCR-DVD201 dvd recorder and i am trying to use it to transfer vhs tapes to dvd but I can't get it done. Instead of getting my tv screen on my camcorder I am getting my camcorder screen on my tv.

I have a SONY tv and a SHarp vcr.

  2. Is this a DVD-based video camera? I do not have the Sony product catalog available. You have hooked the VCR to the camera? And the camera to the TV? I can't see it from here.

Making several gueses about how you have your devices connected - it would be helpful to provide more detailed information regarding your setup - it sounds like you have your input and output cables reversed.

So you have a VCR connected to a DVD camcorder connected to your TV, like this:

VCR output => camcorder input, camcorder output => TV input

If so, it means that you will see your camcorder screen on your TV, and that's the correct way to hook it up.
